Photoshop Tutorial – CS5 Transform Tools
This video is available Free for Everyone.
Running Time: 5 minutes
This Adobe Photoshop CS5 tutorial goes over basic and intermediate uses for the Transform Tools. This is quick and covers the general usage of Free Transform, Scale, Distort, Warp, Rotate, Skew and Perspective. Additional Transform tools are Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical.
All of the tools listed below can be found under the "Edit" Pull Down Menu. These tools can either be used on a single layer, or you can grab several layers, and perform these functions to the whole selected group.
Free Transform – This tool lets you resize, rotate, and distort an image, all at the same time.
Scale – You can use this to resize the image.
Distort – As the name implies, you can grab each of the corners and twist the layer any way you want.
Warp – Using this will let you bend, wrap and do other strange things to the selected area. You can use multiple point, not just on the outside frame, but also within the live area.
Rotate – A simple rotate function allowing you to spin the area from a selected point.
Skew – Allows the grabbing of the corners and slanting them left or right. Similar to Distort, but with less function.
Perspective – Moving one corner will automatically move the adjacent corner that will force the shape into the distance or foreground.
Flip Horizontal and Flip Vertical – Use these Transform Tools to create mirror images of the original selection.
