Photoshop Tutorial – Magic Wand and Quick Selection Tools

This is a simple tutorial on how to use the Photoshop Magic Wand and Quick Selection Tools. If you have done little more than open up Adobe Photoshop, this will be a good place for you to start. This is a starting point for your long career as a Professional Retoucher!
Magic Wand Tool
Description – This allows you to select a color range of similar, adjacent colors, under the cursor.
Options – By modifying the Tolerance, you can change the amount of similar colors being chosen. Also, Sample All Layers, or only the Current Layer.
Modifier Keys – Shift – Allows you to add to the current selection.
Modifier Keys – Alt/Option – Allows you to subtract from the current selection.
Quick Selection Tool
Description – Similar to the Magic Wand. The big difference is that you can click and drag to select whatever colors are under the cursor.
Options – You can adjust the feathering of the selections edges. Also, Sample All Layers, or only the Current Layer.
Modifier Keys – Shift – Allows you to add to the current selection.
Modifier Keys – Alt/Option – Allows you to subtract from the current selection.
